An important part of your journey is actually searching for internship or full-time jobs once your career documents are finalized and you have decided what companies you want to target. While you should make sure to prioritize networking, you also should be setting aside time to apply for internships or jobs via job search platforms. There are a few necessary steps to take when actively searching:
- Use various keywords that will help expand the search on the job search platforms below. (Take a look at this article that breaks down the best keywords to use in your job search).
- Make sure to turn on notifications or job alerts on a search so you can be notified via email or other forms of communication when a new role has been posted that meets your search criteria.
- Before applying to a role you found, make sure to comb through the job description and tailor your resume and cover letter to the description. (If the job description is looking for 2+ years of experience in client-facing roles, make sure you use the phrase “client-facing roles” in your career documents)
- Double check that you’ve attached all required materials! Some applications may only want a resume but some may want a resume, writing sample, and unofficial transcript. Make sure to not skip attaching all the necessary documents or your application may not be seen as ‘complete.’

Leadership Rotational Programs
Many students have multiple interests and sometimes have a hard time selecting one industry to focus on. If nothing is sparking your interest as you search for full-time roles, luckily there are an abundance of rotational programs that allow for new professionals to cross-train in multiple functions within a company, allowing for further interest exploration and skill development. Through these programs, companies are looking to invest in and develop knowledgeable, cross-functional leaders. A number of companies also offer an abbreviated form of these programs as summer internships.
