Overview:

The College Prep Program (CPP) is a no-cost, four-year experience that prepares St. Louis area high school students for success at a college or university that best matches their interests and needs.

Position Description:

The WashU College Prep Program seeks qualified Washington University in St. Louis undergraduate students to serve as Summer Academy Program Assistants (PAs) in an in-person capacity. Summer Academy Program Assistants are integral members of the CPP team and support daily and evening programming and scholar supervision in collaboration with Graduate Fellows and CPP Leadership.

Dates

Employment Duration: Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to Friday, June 26, 2026

Training: Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to Friday, May 29, 2026 (8 a.m.-5:00 PM)

Qualifications:

  • Must be an enrolled full-time undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis in academic Good Standing
  • Ability to commit for the entirety of the 2026 Summer Academy session in person
  • Must successfully complete a background check and Youth Protection training
  • Must abide by and uphold all WashU College Prep and Washington University in St. Louis regulations, rules, policies, expectations as well as state and federal law including the CPP Emergency Management Protocol
  • Must display professional and positive behavior consistent with the WashU College Prep Program and Washington University in St. Louis’s Community Standards, Community Principles and Policies
  • Must maintain scholar and program confidentiality and complete all expectations as assigned by the CPP Leadership Team, Graduate Fellow, session leaders, and classroom instructors
  • Ability to work proactively in a structured environment serving as a positive role model to scholars and have a positive student conduct standing with the university.

Job Responsibilities:

Program Assistants will work in person for approximately 20-30 hours per week during Summer Academy, which include evening and weekend hours. Hours will vary contingent on scholar and program needs. This position is a mandated reporter position.

Program Assistant Tasks:

  • Provide age-appropriate, engaging academic and/or enrichment programming for scholars during the Summer Academy session, as approved by CPP Leadership.
  • Assist in contacting Residential Life, Summer Programs and Conference Services, and Campus Card Services as needed, including lockouts, scholars unable to access their rooms, lost key cards, housekeeping concerns, and maintenance issues.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation beginning from 10:00 p.m. to 900 a.m. to provide emergency and crisis support for scholars.
  • Attend all required team and staff meetings in person, unless otherwise noted by the Program Manager. Being on time and staying for the full meeting is expected so everyone can fully participate and stay aligned as a team.
  • Positively and proactively assist with the educational and administrative aspects of the program in a professional manner, including supporting all program activities, assisting program partners, taking attendance, and supporting Graduate Fellows and CPP Leadership.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with scholars at all times and uphold CPP expectations related to scholar conduct, safety, and program policies.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive program environment that promotes scholar engagement and well-being.

Required Student Staff Training:

Training will be conducted in a hybrid format. Required Canvas training must be completed before in-person training begins on Wednesday, May 27. In-person training will take place Wednesday, May 27 through Friday, May 29, and full participation is expected each day. If living in the residence hall, Program Assistants will be notified of their move in date in a timely manner before Student Staff Training.

Compensation:

  • $15.00/ part-time hourly wage (non-exempt and non-benefits eligible)
  • Housing in the assigned residence hall for the duration of summer academy as needed
  • $350 restricted Bear Bucks
    • As part of your role during Summer Academy, you will be issued $350 in restricted Bear Bucks to help offset the cost of meals and food expenses
