Our partners at WashU

Introduction: Established in 2008, The Graduate Center (TGC) at WashU provides interdisciplinary, academic, and personal programming and community to nearly 9,000 graduate and professional students at WashU. The Center offers a centrally-located hub for graduate and professional students that includes study, meeting, and social programming spaces. The mission is to encourage students to foster a sense of interdisciplinarity and develop social and intellectual communities among their peers, while developing and practicing leadership skills through programming and graduate student groups and governance.

School specific resources

At School of Art & Science, we partner with the Office for Graduate Studies to support our PhDs for their Career & Professional development. We are also working on partnering with schools such as McKelvey School of Engineering, Brown School and Olin Business School to offer similar resources to support their PhDs. Introduction: The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) at WashU strives to be an advocate for postdoctoral researchers and postdoctoral issues, to create and provide training and career development opportunities for postdoctoral researchers, to be a central resource for information regarding postdoctoral training, and to assist in the development of a diverse community of postdoctoral researchers.

Introduction: At the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at WashU, we champion excellence in teaching to support student learning. The CTL promotes inclusive, evidence- based pedagogy, develops teaching-focused collaborations among campus partners, and strives to create a transformational educational experience inside and outside the classroom. We offer significant programming for graduate students, including regular graduate student and postdoc workshops, multiple learning communities, support for academic job market materials, and a formal Professional Development in Teaching Program.

Introduction: The Writing Center and Speaking Studio at WashU offers free support for WashU undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, postdocs, and staff working on any writing or public speaking project. We support all writing and public-speaking projects whether it is coursework, theses, dissertations, grant proposals, application materials, or personal projects, and we can work with you at any stage from brainstorming to reviewing a draft or practicing a presentation.

Introduction: The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CCPS) at WashU is committed to providing exceptional, confidential and inclusive care for all students, with the goal of working collaboratively with students and the greater campus community to improve overall personal development and quality of life. Our interdisciplinary team fosters personal, emotional and academic well-being by offering comprehensive therapeutic services, consultation and outreach and prevention programs. We offer short-term, time-limited counseling services to facilitate adjustment, improve functioning, and achieve resolution of problems affecting academic functioning.

Introduction: The Student Health Services team provides students at WashU Medicine with efficient, accessible, high-quality medical care, without undue financial burden, in order to prevent and treat health problems that may interfere with a student’s educational and professional goals while attending WashU Medicine. The Student Health Service is the primary resource for all your health care needs. We are conveniently located on campus.  We provide a full range of primary care medical services, mental health services, and health promotion and wellness services. Our clinical staff consists of physicians, nurse practitioner, nurses, psychologists, and administrative staff

Introduction: The Biotechnical and Life Science Advising (BALSA) Group is a nonprofit organization operated entirely by graduate students, professional students and postdoctoral researchers from Washington University. Its mission is to provide participants with valuable real-world business experience via short-term consulting projects with local companies. These projects are intended to provide our members with a risk-free introduction to alternative career paths, the chance to meet and work with other talented BALSA consultants and leaders of the St. Louis business community, and an opportunity to significantly expand and strengthen our members’ skill set. BALSA members comprised of students from the Medical, Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Business and Law Schools. The BALSA Group’s client base is diverse and growing, and includes customers such as: DynaLabs, LLC; Eyelten Therapeutics, Inc; Pulse Therapeutics, Inc; Sigma Aldrich and the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center.
