LinkedIn Groups to join for Tech, Data, and Engineering

Do you know about Linked in groups?  They are great resources, for finding like minded people and for boosting your results with the linked in algorithms.  They can be a much faster way to connect than individual connections, although you’ll still want those.

Some groups to join:

WashU Alumni Group – open to students, not just alums!

Washington University in St. Louis McKelvey School of Engineering

WUSTL – Women & Engineering

WashU Sustainability Network

WashU BME

WUSTL Dual Degree Engineering Students and Alumni

WashU ESE Alumni & Student Group

Washington University in St. Louis: Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering

Also look for professional organizations you are a part of, groups in your target cities, and check out what groups others are in who are working in your desired field!

Messages in linked in: linked in likes to change their settings. If you run into limits and roadblocks, let us know!   One recent change is some users can only “add a note” on connection requests up to 10 times a month.  If you are hitting your limit, here are some ideas:

  • Check out WUSTL CNX
  • Find contacts generally on linked in, but to skip the message limits, go into a shared group and send a message there.
