An empowering thought: Much about the exploration process is in your control. You can be supported by career coaches, friends and family, mentors and advisors but, ultimately, you will be the one in the driver’s seat.
Your mindset includes your thinking, attitudes, emotions, energy, values and strengths. The mechanics of your process refers to how you’ll approach actions, when, methods you might use, and measures of success. Approaching your process with intentionality will serve you well.

Consider these questions about how you’ll approach your process:
Personal attributes:
How will your personal strengths support you?
What do you know about yourself that helps you be resilient?
How will you handle set-backs or periods of slow progress?
What shifts (in your behavior/mindset/habits) would create the change you want to see?Â
Goals:
What do you want to make happen this semester/year?Â
How can you break larger goals into smaller, more manageable ones?Â
What is your best hope for this process?
What do you want to learn?
Approach:
What kinds of systems are in place, or do you need to put in place, to get the results you seek?
What matters most for you about how you’ll approach this process?
What do you want to experiment with?Â
When will you work on this? What timeline are you aiming for?Â
What will help you stay on course? How will you hold yourself accountable?
Resources:
Who can you learn from?Â
What is right with your situation?
Who else needs to be involved/considered?Â
What resources are available to you, or could be tapped?Â
